I am a native Spanish speaker, from Madrid, Spain. For several years, I have taught Spanish at the public school system in Boston, MA and now I teach at a private school in Miami. Throughout these years, I have taught various levels, ranging from an introductory level to advanced literature courses. I have experience teaching Spanish to students with learning disabilities. I also tutor after school for those who need the extra support and guidance throughout the school year. At the higher levels, I have prepared students for the AP Language Exam and I have taught Latin American literature and literature of the Peninsula.
My teaching approach is to use methods and activities that better address the student’s needs and learning styles. When teaching, I like to integrate authentic materials as a way to introduce vocabulary and reinforce grammatical structures. Among others, these materials include songs, games, internet based activities, articles, and videos. An integral part of each lesson is to focus on the spoken language and the diverse cultural aspects of the Spanish speaking countries.
I love my profession. I am very patient, dedicated, and always willing to help students succeed.
