About Aaron:

Hi,
I am a Human Physiology major with a psychology minor at Boston University, where I am going to be a sophomore. I had a successful first year, excelling in biology and chemistry, earning A's in both. In fact, I was awarded the CRC Press Freshman Chemistry Achievement Award for scoring the highest grades in my class of 500+ through both Chemistry 101 and 102. In addition to this award, I have been granted the chance to participate in my own research in the biology department. Over the next few years I will be investigating the effects of a bacteria, Wolbachia, when it infests various arthropods, under Professor Horacio Frydman. The two we are currently looking at are Wolbachia infections in flies and mosquitos. Hopefully, our research will eventually lead the the use of the bacteria to transform mosquitos carrying diseases in attempts to control disease, such as malaria and West Nile Virus. I attended Lexington High School, graduating in 2007, where I played 3 years of varsity football and excelled in the maths and sciences. I graduated with a 3.8 GPA and was awarded multiple scholarships. A $10,000/year award from the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts and a $18,000/year award from Boston University highlight the list. I scored 5/5 on each AP test I took, which were Calculus BC, Chemistry, Physics (Mechanics), and Statistics. I also scored a 790 on my Math 2 SAT II, and 780 on my chemistry SAT II. Aside from school, I am a member of the Boston University snowboard team and hope to be competing in Boarder X events next winter. During the year I spend a lot of time playing basketball among other sports and staying fit and strong in the weight room. I have been lifting weights and training for just about 5 years and I take great pleasure in helping people attain their goals. I hope to become certified as an American College of Sports Medicine personal trainer within the next year. This summer I am coaching football at Thundercat Sports Camp as well as tutoring at nights. I enjoy teaching because I like to help people and see people succeed, hence my goal to become a sports medicine doctor. I tutor and coach taking care to put myself in the position of the student or player. I am very patient because I know what it feels like to get stuck on a physics problem, for example, and the worst feeling is having someone pushing and saying its easy when it is not. There is nothing more satisfying for me then teaching the things that I love and I hope to see you soon.
