Hello! I am a recent graduate of Umass Amherst where I earned a dual degree in Psychology and History. I graduated Magna cum Laude from the honors college with both Psychology and History honors. I have presented independent research and my thesis at various conferences and am pursuing publication. I studied abroad in Spain and can tutor basic Spanish. I also received a perfect score on the MCAS writing section and can tutor students in writing, MCAS prep, English, and grammar.
I have tutored for the past two years and provide a fun atmosphere to learn in. I am very results orientated and have helped students raise grades from C's to A's. I also substitute teach and am aware of the current curriculum being taught and what teachers expect their students to know and show on tests and essays.
My tutoring style is very laid back and informal, but provides a great environment to learn. I am a visual learner and enjoy teaching using props and other visual aids. I ensure the student has a firm understanding of the material before moving on, but I also will make sure we are moving at a fast enough pace where all the necessary material is covered. I am a very light hearted and fun person, and try to incorporate this into my teaching.
In addition to academics, I can also help students with sports. I joined a swim team when I was ten and continued swimming throughout high school on the varsity team. |

In regards to swimming, I can teach students how to swim, improve their strokes, and provide extra practice and training for the advanced swimmer trying to meet specific times for meets. I joined a swimteam when I was ten years old. From there, I went to districts and regionals for freestyle and back stroke when I was twelve. I was on the varsity swimteam in high school and used to teach swimming to 10 five and six year olds. If i could teach these children, many of whom were initially afraid of the water, to swim, I can definately teach you to swim!
I've also helped many improve their strokes and times. Many believe they are doing all they can to have the fastest times; however, there are many things one can do to cut seconds off. I can teach you new diving, stroke, and flip turn techniques that require personalized and attentive training to aquire.
I am a well trained swimmer who received personalized instruction when I was younger, and I can help students by passing along my training to them. I can help the beginner swimmer and also the advanced swimmer, and am especially good at freestyle and the backstroke, but I can also help students with their breast and butterfly stroke.
