About Deidre:

I am a member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) and certified to teach piano, voice, and music theory. I studied both voice and piano in college and received scholarship opportunities in both areas. My best hours of the day are spent with students who want to learn fundamentals of music, piano performance and vocal production and to develop their abilities to the fullest extent possible. I have over 30 years teaching experience for private and class lessons and have received the 2002 Teacher of the Year Award through TMCC. If you will commit to 1/2 - 1 hour a day for each instrument for a minimum of 5 days per week I will give you my best efforts as an educator. We can study the basics of music (theory) to develop a thorough understanding of how music works and utilize that to read & study both piano and vocal pieces. I teach all periods of music from the Baroque to present day popular music. If we meet to have a "get acquainted" lesson you are welcome to bring you guardian to the session so we have a good understanding on all sides of how your music study will be approached. If, after a preliminary period of study we decide you want or need another approach we will work through that issue to an amicable solution as well.

I continue to study voice in private and group lessons which culminates in a public performance at the end of each term. I coach the group vocal students at the community college during weekly sessions which prepare them for performance class the next week and play for their public performances as well. I have participated in this activity since 1998. I have participated as Alto Section Leader, performed in various chorale performances and sung with the Sierra Nevada Masterworks Chorale at Carnegie Hall. During college I sang with the college performance choir at the University of Nevada, Reno and with the Lewis & Clark College Choir in Portland, OR. I received two vocal study scholarships and now teach privately as well in my home studio.
