Hi-
My name is Rich Peterson and over the last 17 years (since graduating high school), I've had the chance to do a little bit of everything. I've worked in a dentist's office, for a construction company, as a children's shoe salesman, in a fish market, TA'd in college...I've been a baker, a temporary employee in Cardiovascular departments and government agencies. I have become, essentially, a Jack of all trades. And yet, there are two areas at which I still excel. One comes naturally while the other I have invested over 12 years as either a paid employee or high functioning volunteer: the two subjects are government and english.
Are you having problems in your civics class? I can help. Chances are that I've been part of the action on a federal, state and local level. I worked in Washington, DC for 2 years, including 1.5 years in the Capitol Building as a staffer and intern. I have been involved in state-wide politics on campaigns, and am very familiar with how local politics works.
Do you want to learn how to write? I can help. Never mind the 10-plus writing classes that I took in college, working in a business environment for the last 12 years, I have learned invaluable lessons about the best way to get to the point and grab someone's attention.
I have a BA in Classical Civilization, so chances are if you're having problems interpreting a particular passage of a particular book, I will be able to help and explain in a clear, concise manner (completely unlike this essay).
I understand that people don't learn the same way, and so I'm willing to repeat a complex thought or problem in as many different ways as it takes for someone to understand.
I have been a teacher, either of other professionals or as an undergraduate TA in one way or another for most of the last 15 years. It's actually something that I'm pretty good at, and it's something that truly makes me smile when a client, peer or underling finally understands.
I hope to hear from you.
