About
Claire: |
|
I am 24, and have been working in professional theatre since college in Texas at Sam Houston State University. I attended Broadway Theatre Project in Tampa Florida, where I got to work with Ben Vereen, Ann Reinking, Dave Clemmons, Deb McWaters, Adrienne Angel, Austin Pendleton, and Jeff Calhoun. I worked in Houston TX at Theatre Under the Stars, and simultaneously got to perform onstage and taught classes in their school of music theatre. My career has covered both legit opera and music theatre. I have been teaching voice and serving as music director at a theatre in PA to children ages 10 and up, preparing children and teenagers alike for auditions in NY, colleges, and shows around the area. |

I grew up in Texas, where the Allstate choir competition is as popular as football. I also grew up with a choir director for a parent. My mother is the head director for the most reputable high school choir in Texas, as well as one of seven on the Texas Allstate choir board. I started reading music very early. I became a piano player first, and a singer second. I could read music from the age of 8, and became involved in my church choir. Since then, I became heavily involved with choir in elementary school, along with piano and violin.
My childhood directly led into a successful college experience, singing for top choirs and having the opportunity to perform in many different and beautiful venues.
After college, I moved to Pennsylvania with a friend to help direct a music theater program.
I began a very successful voice studio and music directed shows like Les Miserables, A Chorus Line, Children of Eden, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, High School Musical, Hairspray, and many children's shows.
I've coached kids from age 4 and older with sight singing and voice. Although it's best to start at that early age, we don't always have that luxury.
It's easy to become familiar with music at any age.
