About

I am a rising senior at James Madison University in Virginia and am therefore looking for summer tutoring opportunities. I can tutor for anything from elementary math to college math (including finance, operations, etc).
As a Finance major at my university I have had to take algebra, calculus, statistics, micro and macroeconomics, financial and managerial accounting, corporate finance, quantitative investment analysis, operations, integrated functional systems finance, and management science which all use various mathematical styles.
Through these classes I have become proficient with Microsoft Excel; I can create spreadsheets, link formulas and sheets, and run queries (regression, multiple regressions, and correlation matrices)
Although the math I am currently doing at school is far beyond the basics of algebra, calculus, and statistics, during the school year I volunteer tutoring middle school students during an after school program in mathematics. Also, I volunteer in a special education classroom once a week where I help teach basic ma thematic principles. These opportunities have allowed me to develop my tutoring skills and explain all parts of an equation thoroughly and patiently.
I have a 3.85/4.0 gpa as a Finance major, am in the top 10% of the College of Business at James Madison, on the Dean's list, and in Beta Gamma Sigma a national honors society for business students.
Even though one may be an exceptional student, it takes a certain characteristic in an individual to be able to teach; a characteristic I have been told many times by family, peers, and teachers that I have.

My courses in quantitative investment analysis, integrated functional systems finance, and corporate finance have given me the opportunity to collect data on markets and individual companies, to run queries and data analysis models, and create spread sheets to analyze and report on my results. In addition, these classes have taught me how to apply statistics, financial economics and quantitative methods to characterize the nature of the risk of a stock, portfolio of stocks or standalone investment decision and determine how this risk affects its value/pricing and expected rate of return. Also, through using a financial calculator and by hand I can solve for dividends, prices, present value, future value, annuities for cash flows as well as uneven cash flows, annuity due, yield to maturity, horizon yield, price yield, current yield, and payments. I also have studied mergers and acquisitions, IPO's, currency exchange rates, futures, financial ratios (liquidity, ROE, ROA, turnovers, etc). Using excel as well as by hand I can create correlation matrices, t-statistic matrices, and regression models, test for significance heteroskedasticity, homoskedasticity, autocorrelation, and multicolinearity through the durbin watson test, dummy variables, as well as by observation of regression analysis. I am also familiar with lognormal distributions, random walks, standard deviations of individual stocks as well as portofolios, probability, and all other topics that relate. I have received A’s in all of my finance classes and have a passion for the subject.
