About
Melissa: |
|
God Bless everyone, my name is Melissa. I hope that I can be of great help for those in need for ESL, Spanish, special needs, or even general computer needs. I love to help in any way that I can. I know sometimes it gets aggravating when we can't read well or speak it or write, but I am patient enough to help you in any of these areas so that you can continue with your studies and goals in life. One things I always say is to never give up no matter how you do things. As long as you have faith everything will be fine. Take care and God Bless. |

Bible studies
|
I've been going to Bible Institute for 2 years. I just graduated from my 2nd year at The Good Sheperd Bible Institute in Bridgeport, CT. I teach the nursery and toddlers Sunday School, and I grew up in church learning the bible.

ESL/ESOL
|
I started to learn about ESL when I was in grammar school, I didn't like to read because I wasn't able to pronounce the words right or would take a long time reading. One day I started to go to the library and read quietly and out loud, and it improved my reading skills, writing skills, and pronunciation. I am also teaching my husband to read better, and spell the words correctly. Associate sounds with letters and put two sounds together to make a word. The focus is on hearing sounds and finding letters, while learning to say sounds and words comes in later episodes. Helping out to fill out forms. Taking time at the library and help the child read out loud, making sure they pronounce the word right. Adding games and activities that has helped.
Sometimes using tapes and verbal instructions, written material, pictures and video, and either hands- on or whole body learning.

special needs
|
Babysitting for a down syndrome kid was the best thing ever happened to me. I know they are slower than normal kids, but they are smart in their own way, and very sweet. I've had to at points help to write things down, or print stuff out in bigger letters so that they can be able to read better. Problems in an individual's way of acting, behaving, or conducting him/herself. A child with behavioral difficulties may have difficulty following the rules of the classroom at school.

swimming
|
I've been swimming since age 9 when I started going to the ymca camp. Also helped out in the summer camps and I had to learn for when I do childcare and babysitting. I believe that the child or person should learn how to float better and then it will be easier to swim. Laying on your back in the water of course low end to start, arms stretched out wide, and breathe in deeply. Keep your head in the water up to your ears. You'll find that you'll just float there.
Once you've mastered that, you can try the same turned upwards, in deeper water, you can just move your arms and legs about to stay upright.
