 About Gillian:
I currently am a Biology and predental student at the University of Utah. I am in my senior year and have taken extensive courses in the biological and chemical sciences (mathematics). I have been a private tutor for nearly three years. I am very patient with my students and will work for hours until I know you understand the material. I also focus on memorizing strategies and test taking tips.

Learn More About Gillian's Experience:
anatomy
I can remember in highschool when I took my first anatomy course. The lab that was attached was filled with real live dissections of various organs in the body. Many years later I was in my undergraduate degree as a Biology major, and chose to take several classes that followed trends of anatomy. Those classes included vertebrate embryology, anatomy, biology, morphology, and biomechanics. Along with these classes were several labs attached and the activities included, cadaver and organ dissection, bone structure, blood labs, etc. I have loved all of my anatomy classes as they are a cruical part to the biological side of science in understanding how things fit together and work as one.
botany
Being a biology major means that you really must take a little of every science out there. I chose many times to take courses that focused in on plants. I found that the physiology and structure of the plant was very complex and intricate. This only kept me wanting to learn more. I have taken several courses that have included many aspects of botany such as...genetics, ecology and evolution, biology, microbiology, biochemistry, zoology&botany. It is the plant that drives really all life on earth and it is fascinating to learn all about why that is.
elementary (k-6th)
For many years now I have been tutoring young kids in reading, writing, spelling, and math. I have worked as a volunteer at Parkview elementary schoool, as well as a private tutor for children all over the Salt Lake Valley. I love a good challenge because it pushes me to be creative in the way that I teach.
physiology
The study of physiology is not to talk about the structure of an organism but the function that lies within. In my undergraduate some of my favorite courses were in the "why" things work types of courses. Not just what it is but how and why its there. I think that by learning and really studying physiology all of the other science courses like chemistry and anatomy and physics all seem to come together and the big picture can really be looked at. This is because you are not just studying what is going on but WHY.
study skills
In all my years of school I have always had a knack for studying. I loved getting homework assignments that included memorizing long lists of things, as well as organizing all the ideas together in order to learn it faster. Before exams I would research the top ways to implement what I had learned and came up with some of the best strategies for anxiety and regurgitating information. It was many years later that I became a tutor and learned that some of the best ways to learn material is to keep study skills hand in hand with the subject. I still use all of these tools in my own studies today and consistently throw them in when I tutor.
