About
Dwayne: |
My name is Dwayne, I am a recent graduate of The Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. I hold a B.A. in Brass performance, with my strong point being tuba, but have taught and played all, I also do woodwinds. In my time at MSU i was the drummajor of the Marching Band ( Magnificent Marching Machine),and the principal tuba in the Wind Symphony, student composer/arranger, and a student director. I recently auditioned and had been accepted to the National Intercollegiate Band as The Tubist. My teaching style is that of the late Arnold Jacobs, i believe in dissecting the students issued one by one and not necessarily having a curricula, seeing as how every student is different and needs different attention. I plan on preparing students based upon how successful they want to be. I also in high school played foot ball for 4 years at the varsity level, (RB) made the all county and state teams for 3 of those 4 years. |

music history
Music History is has a mandated proficiency at Morgan State University, where i obtained my B.A. With out knowing ones past we can not realize where we re going, so in tying that into music, if we don't kn ow the origins of our instrument, its purpose, and how they were/are made we cant be the most proficient learners, performers. If we don't pay homage to the astute musician who came before us we can have no idea about how we've come to this point i music today, and wont fully understand it.
