elementary (k-6th) I hold Florida Certification to teach K-6 through passage of the FTCE Subject matter test. I have spent many hours teaching subjects in K-6 through both teaching positions and as a short and long term substitute. In addition, I have had specific training in Florida's Reading First program which specializes in K-3 literacy. My certification classes through both Lee County and Florida Gulf Coast University have allowed me to understand the diverse needs of the K-6 population. I feel truly qualified and comfortable teaching children in this age range along with the subjects required in these grade levels. phonics I have attended Reading First Training which is sponsored by the Florida Institute of Reading Research. This course places a heavy emphasizes on the use of phonics for facilitating reading skills. In addition to my K-6 teaching certification, I have earned a Florida Reading endorsement. This training and coursework also focuses on phonics which is an integral part of the process of teaching reading.
