I am going to be a sophomore at Georgetown University with a double major in Spanish and Arabic. I graduated from Westford Academy in Westford, MA in 2007 with a 4.2 GPA. I have been studying Spanish for 8 years in school as well as pursuing it outside of the classroom by listening to Latin music, watching the Spanish channels, and conversing with native Spanish speakers on campus and at the nursing home I work at when I am at home. With my facility for and dedication to Spanish, I scored #1 in the state of Massachusetts on the National Spanish Exam my senior year of high school. I received straight A's in my Spanish courses in high school and in my first year of college. I have never formally tutored, but my sister is a high school Spanish student, and I am often giving her definitions, explaining grammar concepts to her, and editing her writing assignments. As a tutor, I would try to incorporate both grammatical aspects of the language to promote an understanding of how to form sentences correctly in Spanish as well as teach key colloquial phrases that are often overlooked in the teaching of formal Spanish but are used often in Spanish-speaking countries. |
