About Emily:

Hello! I am excited you have taken a moment to review my profile on WyzAnt.com. I am a certified Elementary School teaching in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area. During this last school year (2007-2008), I substituted in various Washtenaw County school districts. I held a long-term position in the Ypsilanti Public School District from January until June. Teaching is my passion, I enjoy watching children learn and discover new possibilities. When I teacher or tutor, I find that I am always engaging the student in the search for knowledge. I do not like telling the student the next concept. Rather, I would like them to figure out the concept on their own with my assistance. This approach will stay with the student for their entire lifetime. The student will be learning more than the particular concept. They will be learning problem solving by piecing together their bits of knowledge into the bigger picture. Most of my teaching or tutoring is student-centered. Students should learn at their own pace and in the manners that work best for them (i.e. hands-on, visual, auditory, etc.). I am looking forward to hearing from you.
