About Vincent:

Hi prospective students, I'm a music conservatory and law school graduate who is just really good at explanation and communication. I can take something complex and explain it down to a simple idea. I think that is my specialty. But aside from the ability to explain, subjects I'm most most effective at teaching are VIOLIN, MATH and TENNIS. In violin, I have had extensive training from many different teachers and have my own developed methods for technique. Musicality is also a strong point in my teaching. My students have entered major instrumental studios (especially around the Southern California area) and won scholarships and competitions in California and New York. I currently have a studio of about 7 students so you'll be joining those students once in a while for studio class. In math, I teach K-12 students. I specialize in fortifying "holes" in a student's math background, to turn dirty math in what I call clean math. This is an important aspect in "doing" mathematics, to not make mistakes and to be able to think lucidly about the flexibility and fluidity of mathematics. My students have won and placed high in NYC math competitions at their respective schools. I also coach tennis but it is up to the student to seek me out and tell me exactly what he wants to work on. I have a great one handed backhand and a great slice. Thanks for reading.

More On Vincent's Subjects:

  • ear training

Hello... I am not sure what ear training would be good for if the prospective student is just an average person. Yet if the prospective student is an aspiring musician, ear training will be a perfect addition to the practice of musicianship. To be a really great musician, one has to be able to sing anything at sight. My teaching will include how to sight sing, how to read accidentals, and complete ear training. I was the top student in musicianship for all the classes I took in college related to ear training and in high school, I received a "5" on AP music theory, which included a musicianship/sight singing portion. Ear training is essential to the practice of any instrument, including the voice. Think about taking me up on this -- it will change the way you look at the simple language of music.

  • violin

Hi, Violin Teacher here... Well, let me be super straight forward. Violin Teaching is my dream career -- I want to be the next Auer or Delay, and might just have the talent to get there. My teaching has three components. Musicianship, Technique, Repertoire/Musicality. I teach my students musicianship because it is necessary to have good ears and the ability to sight-sing when learning music. Theory will also be a component but it is not as necessary. With technique, I start from the basics of violin playing. Everything is Galamianesque with a focus on relaxed but powerful playing. My teaching includes all technique up to the Paganini Caprices. Repertoire wise I usually teach competition prep material. Start with Suzuki, then move on to Bach Concertos, Mozart Concertos, Bruch/Mendelssohn, Sonstas/Showpieces, then two of either Tchaik, Sibelius, Beethoven, and Brahms. Anywho, so if you want to try learning how to play violin completely, email my wyzant account...
