About

I'm an engineering graduate student at UC Davis who enjoys tutoring so much that after I received my BS from Caltech in Mechanical Engineering, I taught Algebra 1 in summer school with thoughts of becoming a teacher before deciding I would become a design engineer. It turns out I much prefer working one-on-one or with small groups rather than 30 students, so we can really focus on the root cause of difficulties. I'm good at presenting a problem many different ways and getting students to realize what equations mean and the reasons why we solve problems the way we do. This means that they're not just memorizing procedures from a book because they understand what they're doing and it starts to become intuitive, which cuts down on study time. I've been tutoring for years, helping my friends as we progressed from algebra to calculus, and tutoring high schoolers while I was in college, while I had my real world engineering job, and while I've been in grad school. My education means that I have an excellent grounding in math and physics, and my continual tutoring experience means that I haven't forgotten the strange and random rules of geometry through lack of use. I also tutor in Latin, which I studied for 6 years through middle- and high school, as well as taking a refresher course near the end of college just for fun. |
