I am going to be a Junior at Brandeis University in the fall. I have been playing softball for 14 years now and I played basketball for 8 years. I have been named captain of the Brandeis Varsity softball team for this upcoming school year and though I do not play basketball anymore I still operate the shot clocks for the school games. I played 2 years of varsity basketball and 5 years of varsity softball at Holy Name Jr./Sr. high school in Worcester. I also captained my high school softball team for two years. Based on the heavy schedule that I carry between academics, athletics, and work I have attained great study skills and habits. In balancing all these I have always maintained good grades in school and understand the importance of having good study skills. I've had experience working with kids in former jobs and through volunteering as camp counselors. I am also currently umpiring softball games for the summer. |

I played basketball between the ages of 8 and 17. I started out playing at the local Girls Inc.In high school I played 2 years of J.V. and two years of varsity on a team that went on to win the District Championship my senior year. During that time I attended many camps and clinics. I chose softball as my sport of choice in college but I have continued to play intramural basketball. I also operate the shot clocks for both the mens and womens varsity basketball teams at Brandeis University.

study skills
|
Between sports and school I have always had a busy schedule and even more so as I got older and started working. This has caused me to attain great study skills in order to keep up with my school work and attain good grades. This past year at school I maintained a 3.2 GPA while working 2 jobs and playing varsity softball. I am very organized, a good note taker, and very efficient in getting things done on time. In studying I focus on one subject at a time and I recognize that I am a visual learner so I draw diagrams, write things out in my own words, and create charts to aid in learning and studying. I would be comfortable tutoring students in middle school and high school.
