I have experience teaching both adults and children, one to one and in a classroom setting. This information has provided me with springboard from which to formulate a study skills strategy, which will help students to learn and allow them to successfully complete their assessments/reports/exams. Some students do need additional support in terms of support teaching. The most important thing I do is to is to ask the student to list their time commitments and time management techniques, study style and habits, reasons for taking the course and future goals. Then, I find out what the learning style of each student is and design an individual study plan. I have worked in a range of educational settings, College and University and introduce the topic of study skills at the first class meeting. For those students who are struggling with work I produce customised study plans. After the student has been given this my role is to initiate an assessment and support feedback process. Although a competant teacher/coach at club level swimming I speacialise teaching swimming and water confidence to those individuals who have a fear of the water and/or who lack the self assurance to try to learn the basic skills to swim. Combined with my other keep fit and exercise qualifications I often use swimming as a means of improving individual fitness and weight loss.
