 About Emily:
Hi! My name is Emily and I have a very good background in working with people, like yourself, who are seeking a little help or guidance in a certain subject. I graduated from Ithaca College a year and a half ago with a B.A. in Psychology and I am on my way to Syracuse University this fall for my Master's in Social Work. I have been working this past year as a teacher at a school in MA for children who have severe Autism and PDD. I pride myself in being creative with learning and I approach each of my subjects with an exciting new perspective. I have had two years of experience teaching an undergraduate psychology lab class using my super-skills in SPSS, microsoft word, proofreading and scoring papers. I'm great at listening, problem solving and running around in circles (on a track!) if thats what it takes! I am someone who you may find easy to talk to, easy to reach and always willing to help. Choose me as your tutor!

Learn More About Emily's Experience:
proofreading
I am very good at proofreading materials related to many different subjects. I am especially gifted in proofreading papers written in APA format, which requires an extensive working background and years of research. I have had the opportunity to proofread many undergraduate papers including research and lab reports, resumes, proposals, personal statements, and both professional and graduate work. I am often the one who my colleagues will seek out and trust with their written materials or who they recommend to others. If I don't personally know the grammatical or appropriate format for a paper, I know where to find the answer!
special needs
Working with individuals who have special needs has been a life-changing experience. I took a variety of courses during my undergraduate degree and worked at different schools and organizations with children and adults who have special needs. I am pursuing a graduate degree to further my advocacy and support for individuals and families who have or love someone with special needs. I am personally familiar with diagnoses such as autism, PDD, OCD, Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, ADD, Down's Syndrome, MR, and other physical abilities. I have also been trained to teach using the method of applied behavior analysis, which is commonly used with individuals who have autism. My experience, education and training allow me to educate others with both a local and broad understanding about our community and the necessity of inclusion!
SPSS
I have taken courses such as General Psychology Lab, Research Methods, Research team, Methods of Testing and Assessment and I have taught 2 years of undergraduate level Gen. Psychology Lab, all of which have required the use and expertise of SPSS. During my position as a lab assistant, I explained the basic principles of how to use SPSS to find the meaning of data and determine the outcome in psychology studies and experiments. SPSS is a very useful program in which many fields of study and work use to perform and track scientific research. I have successfully tackled many issues and questions that arise with the programs complexities! I am confident that my knowledge and experience with SPSS will prove to be a very helpful tutor!
track & field
Aside from many of my other academic tutoring skills, I have a lot to offer as a coach for sprinters in track & field. I have been doing track & field competitively for 6+ years throughout highschool and college. I am a sprinter and hurdler. I ran at Ithaca College, a division III school and our team won State Championships for indoor and outdoor track during my first year as a competing athlete. I am experienced in training for short and medium sprints (no longer than 800m), 60m, 100m, 400m hurdles, weightlifting, core building and calisthenics. The workouts would, of course, be personalized and set at times convenient for the athlete. I am an optimistic and motivating coach with years of experience to share with an athlete who is looking to improve their PRs and fitness!
