More On Clinton's Subjects:

  • ESL/ESOL

Upon graduating from La Salle University, I accepted a position, through the Embassy of Japan, to participate in the Japan Exchange & Teaching Programme as a Native Language Instructor/Coordinator. While living and working in the southern region of Kyushu, Japan for 3 years, I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) to high school students, and organized international events for Japanese and foreign scholars. I, indeed, relished in the opportunity to travel to the opposite end of the earth in an attempt to educate others, become multilingual and learn about a culture far different from my own. All in all, I’ve acquired over 4 years of ESL teaching experience from South America to Asia.

  • general computer

In order to successfully acquire a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and a Master of Arts degree in International Policy Studies, it was essential to be proficient in a number of computer programs. Knowledge of these programs assisted me in executing the assignments at hand, and aided in graduating Cum Laude (with honors) by the end of my graduate career. The following lists some of the general computer programs with which I am familiar: Microsoft Office 2003, Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, SmartBoard, Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0, Adobe Audition, Rapid Rote 3.6, Illustrator 2003 and Windows XP.

  • martial arts

I practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), and have been doing so for over a year now. In my eyes, this is the most complete form of martial arts ever created. It involves a diverse amount of practical techniques, which focus on locks and chokeholds with the intention of making one’s opponent submit. This is seen a lot in the Ultimate Fighting Championship or in other types of Mixed Martial Arts arenas. However, with BJJ, there is NO striking – strictly grappling. My intense training has allowed for rapid weight loss, and increased stamina. My knowledge of BJJ has left me proficient in submissions, and sweeps from the positions of “Guard,” “Mount,” “Side Control,” and “North South.” My sessions are designed for one whose goal is to understand/practice the basic principles of the discipline that is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

  • powerpoint

Over my career, academic and otherwise, I’ve used PowerPoint for massive amounts of presentations. I understand the inner-workings of the program, and use it for all types of professional talks, debates, presentations, lectures and/or seminars that may come about. The most memorable experience working with PowerPoint was when I was selected to become one of 5 student delegates from my region to attend the Model United Nations Conference. My group’s objective was to propose the most comprehensive approach to combating poverty in Swaziland, Africa. My group and I produced the most complete, in-depth PowerPoint presentation of our career; complete with pictures, video, graphic design and much more. Aside from this occasion, most recently, I’ve held conferences (using PowerPoint) as a professor, which has led to awards and professional recognition.

  • proofreading

Concerning editing/proofreading, I’ve been involved with essay writing for 16 years, and journalism for 8 years in all. Regarding essay writing, I’ve won various contests, grossing thousands of dollars in cash and prizes since elementary school. As for journalism, during the late 1990’s, upon the commencement of my undergraduate studies, I began to freelance at a local newspaper, The Philadelphia Sunday Sun. Eventually, I was granted the opportunity to delve into high-profile assignments. I interviewed Harry Belafonte when he visited Philadelphia to receive the First Annual Marian Anderson Award -- a highly distinguished award recognizing Belafonte’s grand humanitarian efforts. In an effort to exhibit diversity among my work, I covered stories ranging from the struggles of independent filmmakers to politics. I had the amazing opportunity to cover and get up close and personal with former President Bill Clinton upon his visit to La Salle University in November 1999. I am proud to acknowledge that the previously mentioned stories all made the cover page. My writing experience has afforded me the ability to not only write well, but to command the English language. I have edited my own, and various works from other published authors.
