Hi There!
My name is Stephanie, and I want to first thank you for your interest in tutoring with me through WyzAnt.com.
I believe that success with anything in life takes courage, inspiration, dedication and practice. I aim to help students develop and maintain these four aspects of learning through my tutoring style.
I graduated from UMass Amherst in 2006 where I worked as a writing tutor, specializing in ESL tutoring, in the UMass Writing Center from 2003 to 2006. During my last year, I was ranked top tutor by the English department. After graduation, I worked at a PR agency in Boston as an Account Executive for almost 2 years. Now, I am a graduate student at Boston University, where I plan to obtain my Masters in Nutrition and Dietetic License.
When tutoring, I like to incorporate discussion into the sessions, because I believe that personal experience in one of the most important aspects of writing. I want to find out about you before we proceed with the lessons. I usually ask students to come to the first session with a writing sample, but while this is very helpful, it is not required. I will also ask students to read their papers out loud during the sessions. I find that reading your own writing out loud will help your writing improve by 35% alone! I love working with people and promise to make it fun, interesting and educational! After our sessions, I want you to leave feeling exhilarated and like you learned something about yourself.
I look forward to working with you in the future and hope to meet you soon!
Many thanks,
Stephanie
