Hello potential student,
My name is Jacob and I would like to offer you lessons in Arabic, Russian or Hebrew. As I study Middle Eastern history, I may also be helpful in religious studies and history as well. I received my BA (magna cum laude) from Brandeis University and spent this past year on a Fulbright fellowship in the United Arab Emirates. In the fall I will begin an MA in Near Eastern Studies at Harvard. I am fluent in Modern Standard Arabic and am conversant in Egyptian and Gulf dialects. I have native fluency in Russian and have a good working knowledge of Hebrew.

    I am currently beginning an MA in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at Harvard this year. My formal training in Modern Standard Arabic consists of four years, one semester of which I spent in Egypt, where I took classes in both Modern Standard and Egyptian dialectical Arabic. This past year I lived in the United Arab Emirates, where I studied Gulf Arabic with a private tutor in Al Ain and Classical Arabic, which I will be using as a graduate student (where my academic interests lie in Classical Islamic Studies).
