About Kent:

I'm a music/psychology student at Guilford College, which is a private liberal arts school in North Carolina. I will receive my degree in December after returning for my senior recital. I have spent a great deal of time concentrating on violin and music theory and am very passionate about the subject. I began playing violin when I was eight and understand the issues that accompany children's musical progress.

More On Kent's Subjects:

  • violin

I've been playing violin on and off for about fifteen years. I started private violin lessons when I was seven and am now pursuing a Bachelors in Music at Guilford College with violin as my concentration instrument. I've had experience playing in quartets and octets, as well as full and string orchestra. Though I've dedicated most of my time and effort toward classical violin, I've also had musical experience else where. In middle and high school I began playing percussion in marching band. I was assigned to the marching snare drum, which, next to the "quads", required the most skill of all the drum line instruments. My formal training can be credited as the main source of knowledge and skill, but I believe that my love for music came from my less formal experiences. Experiences such as playing guitar and drums in high school garage bands helped me to realize what music is really about.
