About Michael:

I am entering my 3rd year at UGA and 2nd year in the Terry Business School as a Finance major. Right now, I carry a 3.83 GPA with only one B+ outside of A's and A-'s. I have been accepted into the Institute for Leadership Advancement's Leonard Leadership Scholars Program through the Terry College where I am one of thirty scholars chosen in this annual class.
Outside of school I enjoy my job as a football coach at Cedar Shoals High School. I love to teach our kids the game and how to be great young men. I also have experience tutoring our 9th grade players before each practice in their various subjects.
I graduated high school with a 99 average while playing and eventually captaining my varsity football and baseball teams. I was nominated as a Wendy's High School Heisman candidate and at graduation was awarded the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Cup, going to the best all-around senior voted on by the faculty.
In my free time I find myself doing some type of activity revolved around sports. From anything to a sports trivia night at Beef O' Brady's to a pick up football game at the intramural fields, I enjoy it all and hope to meet you soon!

More On Michael's Subjects:

  • baseball

I can honestly say baseball has been a part of my life since the day I was born! My godparents gave me a baseball and glove as a present to my parents and since that day I have loved the game. I grew up throwing the baseball with my dad everyday after his work, creating late-inning dramatic moments to reenact in our back yard. From playing catch to little leagues, and from travel leagues in my teens to playing high school baseball for four years, baseball has been one of few constants in my life. In high school, I was elected captain of my team senior year while being named first team all-region in a perennial top region in the country. I was an all-state honorable mention that year also after hitting over .400 for the year. Throughout my playing career I have mostly played infield, namely 2B, 3B, and SS; while I also have experience playing 1B, OF, and pitcher.

  • statistics

I originally took AP Statistics my senior year in high school and found myself very interested in the subject. By the end of the year I felt I had learned a lot, but all my peers were returning surprisingly low AP scores. However, a pleasant surprise of came when I received notice that I had scored a 5, which is the highest possible score, on my test. When I got to UGA, a prerequisite to take upper level finance courses was a business statistics class. This is really a college level statistics course with a business spin. I took the course through the Honors College, and our class's main evaluation consisted of mock case studies where we would apply to theories learned in the classroom to a business problem, figure out the problem at hand, and report back to the class and professor with our findings. I earned an A- in this course.
