I hold a master's degree in music, with an emphasis in music therapy from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. I am a board-certified by a national certifying agency (the CBMT) as a music therapist, with training in neurologic music therapy. I have 5 years experience teaching piano to special needs populations. I have also taught group guitar classes and I have tutored in music theory and ear training. I work full time as a music therapist. Consequently, I am able to bring a therapeutic aspect to my lessons in order to fully provide for the needs of my students.

I use ear training skills everyday in my career as a music therapist, improvising, composing songs for my clients, and figuring out the melodic and harmonic structures of songs that my clients wish to hear me perform.

I've played the guitar for just over four years and I have studied voice. I have taught both piano and guitar lessons. I have had considerable experience with basic percussion instruments. I played in the percussion ensemble at the University of Miami, and utilize a variety of percussion instruments in my career as a music therapist. I am well familiar with the principles of music and advanced music theory concepts, making me well-qualified to tutor in this subject.

I excelled at all levels of the music theory coursework, from diatonic western classical music through atonal and 12-tone 20th century music. I understand and am fascinated by the melodic and harmonic relationships found in music and I would love to share that with my students.

At UM, I accompanied vocalists, violinists and a bassist in their studio classes. I also had extensive sight-reading training. I play the keyboard almost everyday, either in my career as a music therapist, at my church, or while teaching piano lessons. I have taught piano lessons to both typical and special needs populations for the past several years.

  I am a board-certified music therapist, and hold a master's degree in music, with an emphasis in music therapy from the University of Miami. I also have a B.S. in psychology from the College of William and Mary, with an emphasis in developmental psychology. I currently work as a music therapist with adults with severe to profound developmental disabilities, and children and teenagers with varying diagnoses on the autism spectrum. I also have considerable experience working with teenagers with emotional or behavioral disorders, working with this population in various settings, including alternative schools, group foster homes, other foster care settings, and special education classrooms.

I also sang in the Woman's Choral. Currently I sing almost everyday in my career as a music therapist. I also sing in the church that I attend.
