My name is Shevon. I was born and raised in the United States Virgin Islands. I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I am currently enrolled at VCU, working towards a master’s degree in Reading Education. I’ve worked in a private school for 3 years. Additionally, I’ve had other opportunities to work with children between the ages of 4 and 12. I love working with children.
I believe that every child can succeed. I am a 24 year old that has undergone a long, difficult journey to achieve success. Throughout elementary, middle and high school, I was an average student. I heard, “Do the best you can”. I felt that my best was a B and an occasional C. It isn’t until I enrolled in college that I realized that I had the potential to be an A student. My professors made learning exciting by using lots of hands-on activities. They also helped me to pinpoint my weaknesses and work towards improving them. I still think my high school teachers were just too boring. I try to make learning as enjoyable as possible with goals in mind.
