Hello! Welcome students of all ages! I've just graduated from Grinnell College, a liberal arts school in Iowa, with honors in biology and anthropology. While at school, I worked for academic counseling for more than a year as a laboratory teaching assistant and tutor for fellow students. In biology, my emphasis has been on environmental science but I have a lot of experience with cell biology, genetics, and embryology. I can also teach basic organic and biological chemistry. I have a great amount of experience communicating scientific information both orally, graphically, and in writing. This is a skill I work to develop in students I teach.
In terms of math, I have been instructed through calculus and statistics and am proficient in skills used on standardized tests (scored 730 out of 800 on GRE exam).
I love animals, teaching, and the ocean. I am fun, kind, patient, compassionate, perceptive, and diligent. I think the most effective teachers and tutors work to explain information in different ways when students don't understand. One of my goals is to provide a positive environment where students can learn and be creative at the same time.
I also love to teach swimming lessons! I've been a competitive swimmer since I was small and teaching swimming lessons of ALL ages, from toddlers to adults, always puts a smile on my face.
