About

I am passionate about the subjects I tutor, and I believe that is a key component of both teaching and learning. I majored in Mathematics and Russian Studies at Vassar College, and I intend to continue my studies at the University of Oregon with a focus on Education, Russian, and French (which I have also studied for eight years).
In addition to tutoring young children in math and reading, I have tutored my peers informally in French and math. Perhaps most significant however, is my experience as a supplemental instruction leader for a calculus class during my senior year of college. In this capacity, I had the opportunity to teach students in a classroom setting and tutor one-on-one, as needed.
Ultimately, I believe that everyone has a different learning style and that a tutor must tap into each student's individual style to be effective. Just giving answers is not tutoring; talking out problems to really gain an understanding, whether it be math problems or points of grammar in language study, is the most effective way to learn.
I'd be happy to hear from you whether you need help with homework, review for an upcoming exam, or just general assistance in a challenging subject. Good luck in your studies, and I look forward to hearing from you! |
