I have been teaching drum lessons for over 10 years, mostly individually but also group classes. I have taught for Ethos Inc and Oregon Episcopal School. I am a professional drummer, and a brief blurb can be found at myspace/johnlambdrums. Music is my only occupation, and I have working experience with jazz, rock, hip hoip, opera, afro-cuban, etc. I have almost competed my B.S. from Portland State University with a minor in music (I'm frankly not interested in learning about 15th century composing when I could actually be playing the drums, marimba, or working on my singing) I am well versed in physical mechanics and the implications for musicians, and my other field of study is neurophysiology. This lends me a broad perspective with which to educate students. The first question I ask is "Why do you want to play the drums?" and the second is "What would you like to learn?" The lesson follows from that point.
