About Yelena:

I am currently a senior at Hunter College majoring in biology. Next year I will begin taking graduate courses there to earn a masters in education. Over the years I have worked with many students, all of which showed me that a good tutor needs to adapt to every student because every student is different. This is only part of my teaching/tutoring philosophy. I think it is also important to bring interest and relation to the subject matter because if a student is not interested in the material or cannot relate to it he/she will have that much more of a harder time learning it. I want to be a teacher because I want my students to leave my class looking forward to the next since they know that in every class they will learn something new, interesting, and exciting. I wish the same for the students I tutor. Though, in the past, not every tutoring session has been exciting my students did come out with an interest in the subject matter, a much greater understand and appreciation of it, and most importantly they all achieved or surpassed their goals. My tutoring methods have worked in the past and will certainly work in the future, I only hope that you will give me the opportunity to show you.
