Friendly and professional, I specialize in finding the most comfortable way for a student to learn and focus on their goals. When I was a substitute teacher in Brookline, Massachusetts, I made friends with as many students as I could, and always showed respect to everyone. Judgment and pressure are not good for effective learning. As a young student I was quiet and did my work pretty well on my own, so teachers didn't really pay much attention to me. My special talents and interests were uncultivated until much later in life. I didn't enjoy this, and strive as a teacher to make sure everyone has personal and individual support.
I speak clearly, love language, and consider a good understand of communication and language to be one of the best tools for one's own mental and intellectual development. The greater one's vocabulary and the better one can speak and communicate clearly, the more the brain can develop and express what is truly inside, and personal creativity works at it's best.
I studied English and Literature at a small college where tutorial- and seminar-style learning was primary. My Masters degree came from a teaching program which was at least 50% in the classroom, and literature and language were a primary focus.
My French is excellent, particularly the accent, which is one of the most important parts of satisfying the French style of using language, i.e., understanding and learning to hear the musical aspects of speech. For native English speakers, learning to use one's voice and developing a personal vocabulary are excellent tools to be able to really stand out as a communicator and to be most effective i a chosen path of study or career.
I am cheerful, encouraging, and within that context like to find the most effective and comfortable way to challenge any student to enjoy studying and thereby really be successful. |
