elementary (k-6th) I have four years of experience tutoring K-6 students. I have helped students with their homework in all subjects, especially with reading comprehension and fluency. The parents have always been very happy with the way in which I interact with their children. I am patient and caring and I enjoy the perspective that young students give me. ESL/ESOL I have had experience helping ESL writers improve their verbal and written fluency. I worked in the university writing center when I was a student and helped a lot of struggling ESL writers. I also have met privately with English language learners to practice conversing and to talk about American culture. I have taught English as a second language in China, Brazil, and Thailand to kids as young as 4 to teenagers. grammar When I was a undergraduate student I worked in the university writing center as a tutor. I helped both undergraduate and graduate students with their writing, especially ESL learners who were struggling with their grammar. I also have 8 years of experience teaching English at the high school level. I have developed units on teaching grammar to my high school students and have studied how to teach grammar effectively. I am now a graduate English student pursuing my MA in English. proofreading My command of the English language is excellent. I write well and grammar and composition come naturally to me. I have been employed twice by individuals to proof read their work documents. I am currently a graduate English student at CSULB. study skills As a high school English teacher for 8 years, I realized very early in my career that my students needed to be taught study skills. Most of my students did not come into the classroom knowing how to study for different types of assignments and tests and part of being an effective teacher was anticipating and then addressing the needs that my students had. I have also had professional development that was focused on helping struggling learners who often had difficulty with organization and time management.
