About Marshall:

Hi, my name is Marshall- but I generally go by my middle name ‘Vaughn’. I have always had a passion for the subjects of Science and Math and by the time I was in 7th grade at an Indianapolis grade school I knew that I wanted to go to college and study engineering (what a geek). My dream was to attend Purdue and to obtain a degree in engineering – so that is exactly what I did. I have had a long and varied career beginning with my formal education at an academic high school and my studies in Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. During my professional career, I have been an engineer working in the fields of manufacturing processing, research and development, metrology (physical measurements) and most extensively in the field of quality assurance. My professional career began in the fields of engineering which relate to physical hardware, but over the past years this has shifted to the software field. I am currently a Quality Assurance Analyst for VerizonBusiness and have primary responsibility of providing test plans, test designs and thorough testing for software which supports automotive emissions projects for the states of Massachusetts and Georgia. Academically speaking, I have taken numerous courses to continue my education and have spent innumerable hours mentoring and tutoring my son and other young people (including home schooling) in the subjects of math and science. I have assisted young people as well in providing ideas and assistance for science projects to be entered into science fairs. Some years back I also served as an assistant principal of a private school on a voluntary basis. I understand the basic concepts of teaching and believe that I can communicate technical knowledge to any age group in a way that is exciting and arouses their interest. I am simply able to impart my enthusiasm for these subjects to others in a way that is down to earth and is on their level of understanding. Tutoring is more than a job to me – it is an opportunity to help someone else by enlightening their mind to new horizons and to share my interests and enthusiasms. Thanks, Vaughn
