Hello.I am a recent graduate of Portland State University with a BA in English and plan to enroll in graduate school this summer to pursue teaching credentials and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. I am also a new mother looking to re-enter the workforce within the educational field on a part-time basis. I enjoy working with children of all ages and would love to work in a position where I can gain more experience helping to foster and encourage their growth both emotionally and intellectually. I have mentored and tutored at the college, high school and elementary level and have volunteered at two local high schools as a teacher's aide. Last year before I had my son, I worked at a local daycare located inside the Riverplace Athletic Club as a teacher and birthday party planner/facilitator. I enjoyed the experience very much and am excited for the opportunity to work with children again. I have also worked as a private babysitter and nanny locally and in Northern California. I believe that my experience, education, and future career goals make me an excellent match for the student who wants to succeed and understand what they are learning, not just memorize and recite it.
