  I am an RN who has been practicing in both a clinical and administrative setting for 30 years. My area of expertise is med-surg acute care in multiple disciplines including the following systems:cardiovascular,respiratory, digestive, orthopedic, neuro, oncology, Ob-Gyn, E.R.etc. As a practitioner in many disciplines, I had to have in depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology. For the past 5 years I have been an instructor at a private school for students entering the health care field. Mine was an introductory course which included: anatomy/physiology and medical language. Students were required to pass my course before continuing in their health care fields. I created A&P outlines based on course texts and curriculum as well as power point presentations. My students were very successful, saying I was the instructor they learned the most from.

  How can I explain my skills and abilities to teach nursing? Thirty years of practice including continuing education courses. The importance of remaining aware every second, being able to observe details and interpret complex data in order to prevent and intervene before the onset of complications or life threatening situations. The ability to make patients and families feel safe and comfortable. Acting as an intermediary and patient advocate in dealing with all of the different hospital departments in order to ensure patient's welfare. Extensive knowledge and capability in both the academic and clinical field.

  Nurses are required to write detailed, accurate documentation which may be subpoenaed. This documentation is read by other health care professionals: other nurses, physicians, social workers. Documentation had to be detailed, concise and accurate. As a health care instructor I created outlines, lesson plans, and instructions which had to be well organized and easy to follow. In addition to being an RN I am a published writer. Before any articles and manuscripts are submitted I have to be sure that there are no errors in grammar, spelling, continuity of thought, or sentence structure. If I make mistakes I don't get published.
