About
John
:
I am a retired Fairfax County Public Schools Physics teacher. In my years as a teacher I helped hundreds of students excel in Physics and Math. I taught Physics at every level including Physics 1, Honors Physics, AP Physics, and IB Physics. I was born in Chicago and attended the University of Chicago where I received my undergraduate degree in Physics. Later I did graduate work at the University of Rochester where I received a Masters in Geophysics. I worked for years in industry designing optical and electronic systems for the printing and pharmaceutical industries. I became a teacher after leaving industry because I very much enjoy working with students and helping make difficult subjects possible to learn. One thing I learned as a teacher is that each student's learning style is different. In a classroom of 30 students it is difficult to tailor your teaching to optimize each students learning potential. One of the advantages of tutoring is the opportunity to customize your teaching to the student. This is what I do as a tutor. I look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge with you.
