I am the ideal tutor for anyone in need of help with English. I would be best suited for students who need help with writing papers, grammar, and vocabulary. Although I specialize in writing composition and grammar, I can also help with reading and reading comprehension, at any level.
I am one semester from attaining my Bachelor of Arts in English and English Education. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.46, and have been awarded the Dean's Award for Excellence at VCU. Several of my professors have used my papers as an example of a well-composed paper for my classmates, and I rarely recieve less than an A on any writing assignment. I expect to graduate with honors in May of 2008. After that, I intend to begin a career as a high school English teacher.
My teaching style changes with the needs of the student. Throughout my collegiate career, I have helped many of my classmates become better writers, and achieve better grades, free of charge. Many people struggle with grammar/punctuation, and I am able to simplify the rules for them. Others have trouble constructing their papers, which is another area in which I excel. I also have a diverse vocabulary, and I am confident in my ability to pass that on to my student.
Professionalism is a given with me, and I will treat every student with respect and sensitivity to his/her needs. I also have excellent communication skills, as well as a good sense of humor and a relaxed approach. (I have done stand-up comedy at open mic nights!) Friends, colleagues, and classmates have always felt comfortable seeking my assistance, because I enjoy helping people improve their skills and themselves. |
