About
Katelynn: |
|
My name is Katelynn and I am 21 years old. I love working with all ages! In the last few years I have taught piano and directed three Croductions at our Church in Forest Grove. Some of the participants had special needs but I refused to give up on them and helped at every practice.
I took Computer Classes Jr. High - Freshman year of High School. I was homeschooled from my Sophmore-Senior year and enrolled in American School in Lansing Illinois.
My dad and Aunt both teach Elementary School and I have been able to assist them several different times.
Last year I worked at Jackson School and helped kids with homework and planned group games.
I love to be involved in the Community! I am honest, helpful, dependable, full of energy, and ready to help you achieve your goal! |

I have cared for Elementary aged children for many years in a variety of different enviornments. I have also had mulitple opportunies to assist my Aunt dad when they teach.
In July of 2006, I was a Teachers Aid for a Summer School program. I helped with the Primary Grade levels. The main topics were reading, writing, and numbers. I created catchy rhymes to remember how to write their numbers.
Last Fall I worked for Vermont Hills in their After School Prgram. I would help kids with their homework. The students ranged in age from Kindergarden-6th grade. When we were outside, I would create an obstacle course or start a group game that everyone could learn from and enjoy! It is important for kids to have some funfree time in the sun....Nature Walk - Kick Ball!
I have also worked with Children who have Special needs and believe they are also capable fo reaching their goal!
I love it when kids use their imaginations and the joy on their faces when they have mastered a new concept! I am upbeat, helpful, caring, and wnat to help eacho child any way I can. Every child is ready to reach for the stars!

special needs

I am willing and ready to do what I can to help make that possible...even for those who have special needs! When there is a will there is a way. Right when I meet them, I look passed what ever their dissability may be and see one who si ready to learn, dream, and reach for the stars!
I have worked with kids who have special needs in the lassroom, playing sports, and in theatre. I also know and believe that Support, help, upbeat spirit, and answering any questions they may have are all key.
I will acknowldege even the slightest imporvment that takes place and encourage them not to give up.
I also will use resources that will help the child learn. For example, playing games, hands on, record on tape so they can hear it later, singing. While I am helping the child master new concepts, I will also find ways to helpthem keep their other skills solid.
Any frustration that the child may show will be met with encouragment. I also want to keep communication with the parent as open as possible.
Don't waste another day, let me help your special child reach for the stars and achieve their dreams... one day at a time!

theatre
|
I have performed in several plays and have also directed three over the past two years. Infact, I am currently directing a play that I wrote for the second time in a row.
Some of the plays I performed in include Where the Wild Things Are and Sneakers.
I teach each participant the importance of speaking loudly and cleary, help them memorize their lines, Theatre terms, interacting with fellow cast members, and simple dances. Everyone enjoys it! I encourage everyone to use their imagination and think of ways they could make their charcter unique! I also teach them a lot of theatre games where they have access to stage props.
Last year, I offered a Theatre workshop for one week. This allwed each of the cast members to work with me one-on-one. Each session lasted for an hour but the difference was amazing! I was able to answer any questions tehy have and interact with them on a personal level.
I have also had the honor to work with kids who have dissabilities. If anyone asked me why I let these kdis participate my response is that Theatre may be the one thing that they have a natural gift for, no one has any right to take the opportunity away from them. Once the Curtain fell for the last time, they were also able to celebrate with the rest of the cast and rejoice in their own accomplishment!
