More On Fadia's Subjects:

  • Arabic

I am a native Arabic speaker. I have received a Lebanese Baccalaureat with distinction. That means that not only do I know the grammar, syntax, and native vocabulary fluency in both oral and written (formal Arabic) format, but I am also familiar with classic Arabic Literature and Philosophy. I have always tutored non-Arabs while living in Beirut. I have books for an advanced level. We can easily acquire more elementary level books. I am familar with most Arabic dialects, in particular the Eastern Mediterranean (Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon) and Egyptian. Teaching Arabic can include the culture and music, if desired.

  • economics

I have an undergraduate degree and a graduate degree (from Georgetown) on Economics. I have taught Sophomore college level Micro-Economics, Macro-Economics, and Statistics. I really know how to teach those subjects, and really, they can be fun!

  • elementary (k-6th)

I have tutored children, through middle school, in every topic when I was in college. I am an academic person, have raised two children to excel at school, in part through my tutoring them. My friends always call upon me to help with their children's homeworks. I am perceptive and "guess" where a child needs help, and how to help him/her stay interested, and do their best. I emphasize a sense of confidence and self-esteem and encouragement. I also do my share in communicating with the school and the child's teacher in a co-operative effort to help the child succeed.

  • ESL/ESOL

As a non-native English speaker who got to be published in English (I co-authored three books and was printed in the New York Times), I know the intricacies of English from the perspective of a non-English speaker. Living in Washington DC means having numerous friends who are non-native English speakers and who are struggling with the right words and putting them in sentences with the right syntax. Those friends call on me regularly to explain English text, including words, and popular expressions. I often help with written documents, when someone needs to write a letter or a presentation. I explain punctuation, offer synonyms, correct syntax. What I teach sticks with my students.

  • law

Well... I have a J.D. from a top Law School (Temple) where I was on the Dean's list and on a law review. I have practiced for 8 years in various disciplines. Areas I can teach are contract law, criminal law, torts, class actions, veterans law, procedure, both civil and criminal, and Constitutional law. The reason I have a diverse exposure is because I have clerked both in Federal court and State court.

  • LSAT

I got a very high score on my LSAT, which I can't remember... The LSAT, like the GRE, takes learning the tricks and practicing. I am a natural at these tests (also aced my GRE), and I am a natural teacher. You'll be relaxed when you go to the test.
