Dear Prospective Student:
I am a poet, author and educator who is highly trained in teaching English, reading, and writing. I have a special interest in creative writing and poetry. I am the author of two volumes of poetry and the editor and publisher of an award nominated poetry anthology.
I have experience teaching students from grades 3-12 in elementary, secondary schools and afterschool programs. I have also been an instructor for an Adult Basic Education program in GED preparation. Many students I have worked with have risen in their reading levels and have a greater appreciation and understanding for various genres of literature and forms of writing. I am a teacher who uses a writing and reading workshop model of teaching. I present my students with text and materials from which to work. We read, review and discuss it and therafter students may work to complete an independent assignment for me to check and review. I can also work with materials given by your teacher or professor. My experience in education spans almost eleven years.
I earned the B.A. degree in English from Hampton University and graduated summa cum laude from Fordham University with the M.S.Ed. degree in Curriculum & Teaching. I also have graduate credits from an M.A.T. program at Webster University.
