About John:

Dear Sir or Madam: In the summer of 2006 I volunteered at the Center for Autism and Related Disorders. I gained experience working with children and their challenges. I did research and took an active roll in their therapy. The following school year I interned at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center where we conducted studies on rats. At present I am studying for the entrance exam to law school. I have to be able to articulate complicated concepts into simpler ones in order to address the questions on the exam. These skills help me to present and articulate ideas to children. While in the Air Force I was promoted to a supervisory position. This gave me the experience to understand the needs of my subordinates and develop the patience required to lead a team. These are other assets I have utilized to improve my communication skills. It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent tutor who will make a positive contribution to you. I invite you to contact me and hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience. Sincerely, John

More On John's Subjects:

  • biochemistry

I received my BA in Bioethics from the University of Judaism which required me to take biochemistry, genetics, physiology, organic chemistry, in addition to ethics courses. I feel that biochemistry can be thought of as an advanced organic chemistry course applied to an an advanced general biology course (I passed the WyzAnt test for biology but no test offered for organic chemistry and I am in the process of taking the general chemistry test) but generally geared toward humans. I also interned at Cedar Sinai Medical Center where I was part of a psychology research team and conducted assays to evaluate various drugs and therapy on laboratory rats. I am currently studying to take the entrance exam to apply for medical school. A demanding task but I think I can reinforce what I might study if I teach/tutor it to somebody else. Lastly, I held a summer job, at a pathology lab, where I annotated the gross observations of biopsies. I acquired an invaluable wealth of knowledge while being part of a team that could educated me.

  • guitar

I have played classical guitar on and off for about 13 years. I can tutor basic techniques of classical finger picking which can strongly help your ability to play other types of guitar.

  • Hebrew

I have taken a semester of Beginning Hebrew and I graduated from the University of Judaism where I was able to utilize the Hebrew I learned. I have also recently returned to the U.S. from Israel where I spent six weeks speaking, reading, and developing a working knowledge of the language. I aim to tutor beginning Hebrew and not anything more advanced.

  • proofreading

I received my BA in Bioethics from the University of Judaism. I think this is testament enough of my ability to tutor this subject but I also have other reasons. I have written research papers and presentations for school. One of my professors sat on President Clinton's Bioethics Committee and he demanded a lot from our papers. I enjoy writing and have adapted a sense of recognizing errors in the way other people write. That is why I feel I received high scores on my writing assignments in college and why I feel I would be a qualified tutor. I had

  • religion

I received my BA in Bioethics from the University of Judaism where I acquired a deep understanding for Judaism and Jewish thought. I was taught courses by very distinguished rabbis in their respective fields. Bioethics is a major that examines various ethical issues in medicine. They can range from abortion and organ transplantation to Judaism's position on euthanasia and Christianity's position on stem cell research. "Value Theory" is part of the curriculum and that examined the progression of traditional approaches to Western ethics from Plato and Augustine to Kiekegaard and Rawls. I had other courses such as "Ancient Jewish Civilization," "Introduction to Zohar" (Jewish Mysticism) and "Zen & Hasidism." I have also independently studied for six weeks in Israel this past summer.
