Hello. My name is Laurie. I am currently a graduate student in education at George Fox University. I have recently taken course work in advanced strategies in teaching reading, hands on math, and hands on science. I have worked with students in small groups and one on one for several years, helping them to master concepts in math, writing, reading, and social sciences. I seek to make study material come alive through hands on work, whenever possible, or other ways to make the material interactive and enjoyable, and lessons mentally stimulating. My goal as a tutor is to strengthen a student's foundational and fundamental skills to help them become independently successful in their academic pursuits.
I love studying and teaching. It is a joy helping students overcome challenging obstacles in which they are having difficulties.
I am also a writer, beginning to seek publication and desire to help students gain greater proficiency and mastery in written communication.
Some things about me personally: My family is very important to me. I have been married for 20 years, and have two sons and two dogs. I also spent several years of my childhood living overseas in third wold nations. That has impacted and broadened me in ways I cannot measure, but has definitely impacted the way I view the world on many levels. I love debate, logic, and philosophy. I am a born-again Christian, and am proficient in Greek. My greatest passion and love is studying the Bible and faith centered. I have studied other religions as well. I am also developing a passion for internet marketing, and bargain hunting, along with the research that this entails.
