More On Robert's Subjects:

  • ear training

Ever since I was a child I've had a great ear for music. I have incredibly good relative pitch and ranked highest in my college ear training classes. Throughout my life I have prepared "head charts" for recording sessions, i.e., wrote band arrangements out of my head without a piano, and I have done many vocal arrangements in the same manner. I have taught ear training, and currently co-direct the Rising Star Children's Musical Theatre Troupe here in Los Angeles, for which I am also Music Director. A big part of my job there is to teach the children to hear music properly, and much time and effort is spent particularly on ear training. This is a talent about which there is not much to say -- one either has it or doesn't. I have it, and I teach it. Thanks!

  • general music

I am not quite sure exactly what "General Music" entails, but I am certain that I can teach it. I taught music production at Los Angeles' late lamented Grove School of Music, and currently have thirty kids in the Rising Star Children's Musical Theatre Troupe to whom I teach ear training. I have performed as a keyboardist with Grammy-winning singer-songwriters on several world tours, composed for an Oscar-winning songstress, written horn and string charts for a multi-platinum artist, and given personal lessons in music theory. I play piano, keyboards, drums, percussion, and I compose music and write lyrics. Songs I have written are in release internationally. I have been a professional musician for decades. Surely I am qualified to teach General Music! Thanks.

  • grammar

I have been a writer all of my life. I have authored an ESL book for Japan, my liner notes for music albums have been featured on major label releases, and bios and profiles I have written are featured on many websites. I am also a musical theatre librettist, having written the script and lyrics for four full-length musicals which have enjoyed performances in Chicago, Los Angeles, Wichita, and Long Beach. I am no college student, but a mature, experienced writer and musician with many years of experience in authorship, performance, and education.

  • music history

I have taught music appreciation and music history in several respected institutions, including St. Edward's University in Austin and the esteemed (and sorely missed) Grove School of Music in Los Angeles. My education was in music, and I have been a working musician and author my entire life. I am a lifelong autodidact, and because of this ongoing learning the history of music is second nature to me. I am conversant in every era of Western classical music, including Medieval/Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and so-called Modern. I have a lifetime of knowledge to impart in this field.

  • music theory

Music theory was my major and has always been a huge part of my life. As an educator, performer, and writer, I have used my knowledge of music theory in many ways. My lifetime of experience cannot be equaled by any eager youngster; I'm the real deal.
