I have an appetite for education and working with people. My diverse background in mathematics, statistics, journalism, economics and English as well as my diverse work experience in many fields allows me to cater to the needs of many different students.
I have a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Statistics and a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Economics from UC Davis. Only about 1% of UC Davis students graduate with a B.A.S., especially since the requirements to do so are quite demanding. I graduated with honors as well as a citation from the statistics department. I have made it on the Dean's list and am a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. During college I was newspaper editor, manager, reporter and layout artist. When I was going to college, I continued to teach piano and tutor both K-12 students as well as college students.
My first experience in teaching was when I was 12. I was the youngest Sunday School teacher at my local church. Since then, I've been addicted to working with people and helping them with their weaknesses. I've had my own struggles with overcoming my weaknesses. As a math-minded person, English courses (especially the writing part) was extremely hard for me. But I've been able to turn that weakness into a strength, working my way up from newspaper layout artist to an editor/manager. I then began teaching piano and tutor elementary schools students when I was 14. Since then, I've slowly but surely developed skills and strategies in working with different students in different concentrations.
I've also traveled to the Philippines and Thailand to teach English for a summer when I was in high school.
Basically, my strengths are English, Mathematics/Statistics, Economics and Music. However, I can also tutor elementary subjects.
