elementary (k-6th) I hold a Michigan Elementary teaching certificate for K-8 with an endorsement in English. As well, I have been an elementary school teacher; I have taught Kindergarten for three years, substituted in all grade levels, and have tutored for nearly eight years. I would like to add that I am comfortable with most subject areas (excluding math) for these age levels and feel that I am resourceful in guiding young people and make my lessons fun. ESL/ESOL As a tutor, I have had many opportunities to teach English to speakers of other languages. Some students have had a very limited knowledge of English while others have had a foundation of English from schooling in their native countries. I have enjoyed teaching ESL and have also taken courses at Eastern Michigan University for ESL. I would very much like to tutor in this subject area. GED Although I have not taught GED skills I believe that I am able to do so. I have a BA degree, a teaching certificate, and experience in working with all age levels. I especially would like to be able to help those young people who were not able to obtain their high school degrees. Education is important to me and I want to be able to help others excel in their own lives by furthering their educations. grammar I have obtained a BA degree from Albion College with a major in English. As well, I have taught grammar to individual students for nearly eight years as a tutor. I have studied grammar for a long time and feel confident to teach grammar to all age levels. proofreading As a tutor I have been called upon to proof read dissertations, high school English papers, and also college papers for particular classes. My clients in the past have expressed appreciation and also received high marks or "A"s on their assignments. I believe that having a good command of the English language, or any language, is a powerful tool of communication. Writing in particular is one way of empowering ourselves and I like to pass that skill along to others.
