About
Noam: |
I can help you with math, reading, and writing!
I am currently a junior at the University of Michigan pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology-Zoology--a cross-disciplinary major which combines coursework from both physical anthropology and biology. I have loads of tutoring experience, ranging from teaching English to a group of Buddhist monks in Nepal to tutoring inner-city youth in Detroit. In Detroit I work with students k-11 in math, science, writing, and reading. After working with these children for almost a year, I've become accustomed to dealing with restlessness, adolescence, negative attitude, and everything in between. Using a combination of friendship and positive reinforcement, I've learned to reroute their passions and energy into productive learning and discussion. I think my academic success, my passions for community service, my vast range of experiences, and my ability to communicate and interact with adolescents translate into highly successful tutoring and mentorship.
I also have six adorable nieces and nephews (the 6th as of a few weeks ago!), who range from infancy to ten years old, so I have plenty of experience in connecting with younger children.
I very much look forward to working with you and your child to create an environment that is both fun and educational.
I look forward to hearing from you :) |

I have loads of experience with children. As mentioned in my CV, I serve as a weekly tutor in inner-city Detroit. The children range from k-11, and I've spent much of my time working with those specifically from k-6. Also mentioned in my resume, I've taught a group of twenty fifth-grade Italians in English. I also have six nieces and nephews who range from infancy to ten years old. Because they live less than an hour away from my parents' house, they are more like little brothers and sisters to me. Needless to say, I took care of them a great deal during high school and I have plenty of experience working with those younger age groups.

I speak Hebrew fluently. In addition to being raised in a partially Hebrew-speaking household, I studied Hebrew k-12, for a year in Israel, and I placed out of the language requirement at college.
