About Sarah

I am a 2004 Notre Dame Undergrad and a 2006 Master in Education graduate from ND. I am currently a 1L at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. I earned my master's while teaching a self-contained 5th grade classroom in Birmingham, AL. I currently teach 5th grade Math and Science at The Chicago Jesuit Academy - an all male middle school on the west side of the city. In college I persued an intensive study of Classic Literature and Philosophy through a Great Books Seminar program called the Program of Liberal Studies. I wrote a Senior Thesis on Democratic Classrooms and have extensive writing experience because of this course of study. I tutored inner-city middle school aged students while an undergrad.
In high-school, I took several AP classes including Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, French Language, English, and Psychology.
My classroom teaching style tends to be centered around guided practice, hands-on/real world projects, group activities, and student interest driven. My one-on-one style, depending on age, would deal primarily with skill strengthening through a variety of methods including drills, short exercises, games, and potentially projects.
