About Katherine:

After graduating from Smith College, I moved to San Francisco and began teaching. I have progressively gotten more interested in tutoring as I've developed a love for working one-on-one with students. I have tutored math, reading and writing skills, history, and even biology. I have taught in very diverse settings. Some of my experience includes teaching and tutoring English in West Africa, art to kindergarteners, and biology to at-risk youth.     In the last five years, I worked for 2 hours everyday with students ages 6-12 on their homework. Some students had severe learning disabilities. I was routinely in a position of helping a student study for a test. Through this experience, I became very creative in figuring out different ways of setting a child up to succeed in learning. Study skills (be it flashcards, memory hints, pattern making, or organizational tools) were a key part of my teaching in the last five years.
