I graduated from UC Santa Barbara in Jun '07 with B.S. degrees in both Biochemistry and Environmental studies. Upon graduation, I earned high honors, distinction within the major (Env. St.), and a certificate of completion of the College Honors Program.
In September I entered into the Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology graduate program, as well as the Graduate Program in Technology Management, at UCSB.
Aside from coursework, I'm employed as a teaching assistant for upper-division biochemistry and a graduate research assistant in a biological materials laboratory.
As a teaching assistant, I'm responsible for teaching 3 hours of discussion/lecture a week (approx 80 students, college juniors/seniors) and for holding individual appointments with students as well as office hours. This provides me experience in teaching both to larger groups of students and to students on a one-on-one level. I quickly realized that working one-on-one with students was what I enjoyed the most and that a part time job as a tutor would be great supplement to my work at the UC.
