elementary (k-6th) I have been a tutor for elementary age children for almost 10 years. I have tutored in all basic areas of learning - language arts, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, reading comprehension, phonics, math, science, social sciences, and standardized test preparation. I homeschool my son. He is currently in the 2nd grade. I serve as a consultant in my homeschool group, helping other families identify their child's learning style and best choice of curriculum. My background in Psychology and Case Management has provided me with professional experience in teaching others of all ages, elementary and otherwise, with all learning styles and abilities. I am confident that I have the skills, knowledge and experience to tutor any elementary level child. special needs I have a BA in Psychology from the University of South Florida and I attended American Schools of Professional Psychology for my graduate studies. I have 15 years experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities. My work over those years involved teaching others in a variety of educational settings and all general subjects; coordinating, developing and implementing IEP's, behavior plans, cognitive rehabilitation plans and psychiatric plans; training and overseeing staff of entire departments. I have worked with children and adults with a variety of diagnosis, including, but not limited to, autism, ADD/ADHD, brain injury, mental illness, and various learning disabilities. I currently homeschool my son who has Tourette Syndrome and Hearing Loss. Positions I have held include Behavior Specialist at the Judge Rotenburg Educational Center, Psychological Services Department Coordinator at the Blackstone Valley RIArc in Pawtucket, RI; Case Manager / Behavior Management Specialist at the Arc of Maui in Hawaii. I am confident in my ability to identify and understand special needs, prepare appropriate lessons tailored to the student and teach material in a manner that will lead to successful learning.
