About Dan:

Hello! Thank you for stopping by. I have been playing drums since the age of 7 (33 years now). I started in the school bands and marching band, took private lessons for a time and then began joining my own bands. I began by sitting in with my Father's jazz quartet, and then joining bands, playing different styles of music - rock, jazz, heavy metal, folk rock, blues and country. These included both cover and original bands. I am still active in several bands.

My teaching style is one of patient mentoring, with attention to detail and accuracy. We begin with the 40 Rudiments of the Percussive Arts Society, and then we go to the appropriate area of study, depending on the student's needs, desires and equipment.

I have been teaching for thirteen years, privately and at an instructional studio. If interested, please contact me through WyzAnt.

Thank You,
Dan

  • ESL/ESOL

Since August of 2008, I have been an Online ESL Instructor - mostly for students living in South Korea. I was referred to this by a teacher friend living in the Philippines, who does the same, and knew that students would appreciate a Native Speaking ESL Instructor. I use Skype and webcam to give the lessons. I begin with approximately 15 minutes of conversational English on a specific topic; I correct every little miscue that I hear. This is followed by 5 to 10 minutes of dictation, and correction of typing. Finally, I give quizzes on homonyms and idioms, which usually give the student many new words in their English vocabulary. The lesson is an hour long, and the response has been great. Students feel that they are learning and retaining a great deal. Thank you for your time, Daniel DeRienzo
